ANJORIN, Abdul-Azeez (Ph.D) is a Senior Lecturer, Medical Virologist and the Team Lead, Influenza and Other Respiratory Tract Virus (IORTV) Research in the Department of Microbiology, Lagos State University. He had over 6 years PhD training on Influenza virus at the WHO reference Laboratory, College of Medicine, University of Lagos. He also did a predoctoral training at the WHO reference Laboratory for influenza at the Luxembourg Institute of Health. He is a certified ProMED-EpiCore health professional for infectious disease surveillance by the International Society for Infectious Diseases. He holds a Certificate of Training on Applications of PCR from the World bank supported STEP-B project; with an additional training in Molecular phylogeny from Inqaba-Biotec, South Africa in collaboration with Noguchi Memorial Institute at the University of Ghana. He is a recipient of several Awards and Grants including the European Scientists Working on Influenza Young Scientist grant and the FGN- TETFUND PhD research grant. He is an Associate Editor and the JRRS Editorial Board Secretary. He also serves as the International Associate Editor with the Pan-African Medical Journal. He served as the International webinar resource person, Sree Narayana College, Kannur, India at the Post-Graduate and Research Department of Zoology & IQAC in 2020. In 2021, he was selected and inducted into the prestigious Nigerian Young Academy. He is a member of the World Society for Virology, American Society for Microbiology, ASLM, and NSM. He has published in local & International journals including the Tropical Medicine and International Health, and served as reviewer for the Journal of Medical Virology, Elsevier, Springer-Nature and BMJ.
