Abstract
Thermodynamics of the electrochemical reaction in lead-acid battery was investigated. A negative value of change in Gibbsâ free energy, ?G, and a positive entropy change, ?S, were obtained for the reaction. ?G was more negative at increased temperature. The reaction was exothermic, with a negative value of enthalpy change, ?H. A relatively small value of temperature coefficient of the electromotive force of the cell, (?E/?T)_P, was also obtained for the reaction.
